To ensure the best results from job boards and provide an optimal experience for jobseekers, all job postings published through Workable must comply with a general set of guidelines. While these policies cover the most important rules of our syndicated job boards, each board still performs its own review and may reject posts that don’t meet its individual standards.
Workable has a dedicated team of specialists who review job ads advertised on job boards via our platform to ensure they meet all necessary guidelines. If your job ad doesn't comply, it might be rejected for visibility. But don't worry—our team is ready to assist you in identifying and fixing any issues so your job can go live smoothly.

Company requirements
- Your Company Name should be your complete company name as it will be advertised on job boards. Avoid abbreviations, d/b/a, or “Inc.” unless it’s how you typically refer to the company. Adjust this under Settings > Company Profile.
- You must have a working and established company website that matches the company name on your account, lists your organization's physical address, and has public contact details. You can adjust the website linked to your Workable account under Settings > Company Profile.
- Your email address should match the company website domain (e.g., your email is john@company.com, and the website is www.company.com). If you used another address, it must be listed on the contact page of your website. Update your email address under Settings > Your Profile.
- You can only hold one account per company in Workable.
Job quality
Title
- Use common job titles, such as “Customer Support Representative” instead of “Support Ninja”. Realistic, descriptive job titles are more effective, as they’re easily searchable by candidates.
- Avoid extremely long titles (no longer than 80 characters), all capital letters, extra punctuation, and other special characters.
- Don’t include extra information like the job location, salary, or other recruiting language (e.g., “hiring now!” or “high commission”) in the title.
Location
- Include a complete City, State, and Country for your job's office location(s) to be included on all free job boards. Locations are auto-suggested as you type.
- If you have the same job openings in different offices, create one job with multiple locations (up to 6 in total).
- Follow these guidelines depending on the workplace type of the job you're hiring for (on-site, hybrid, remote).
Description & details
- Descriptions should be at least 700 characters long. A typical description should include duties, requirements, benefits, and company details. Check our collection of job description templates or create an AI-generated job description to get started.
- The job should not be a test (incomplete descriptions) or talent pool (future applications)
- Limit the use of links and images since they aren’t supported by most job boards.
- Don’t provide other ways for the candidate to apply, like an email address, phone number, or website link. Workable will always include an Apply button automatically.
- Avoid language that could be viewed as discriminatory. This includes any age limits or similar language like “college students welcome”, specific pronouns (e.g. avoid using “he” or “she”), and nationality (when referring to language abilities use “native-level” instead of “native.”).
- If you’re hiring for multiple openings for the same job, you should still write as if it was a single position (e.g., “Nurses” or “Salespeople” should be “Nurse” and “Salesperson”).
- Format your text inside of Workable, as opposed to writing a formatted description in a text editor and pasting it in. Pasting formatted text may lead to formatting issues on certain job boards.
Other requirements
- Jobs may not be accepted by all job boards if you’re already posting there directly or from another source. Don't worry; contact us, and we will advise you on how to handle such a situation.

- Some jobs may only be able to be published with sponsored visibility. Jobs advertised nationwide or in a different market rather than the physical location of the office, self-employment, commission-based positions, relocation offers, unpaid internships, or volunteer work are only eligible for paid postings on our partnered job boards.
- For remote jobs, add at least a country (or state) under 'Employee location(s)'. Remote jobs will be advertised nationwide.
- Some jobs are not eligible for job board syndication at all. The majority of job boards do not accept posts that advertise short-term (by the hour) work, multi-level marketing programs, solicitation by middlemen, or solicitations for purposes other than direct job-specific employment (such as career fairs).
- Jobs may not be accepted by all job boards if they are reposted/refreshed frequently. For long-running or evergreen positions, we recommend utilizing paid job board options for the best visibility.
