You can filter candidates by information provided in both candidate and user-provided custom fields under the Pipeline view and the Candidates page, as well as application form questions. This is particularly useful when specific requirements are crucial for hiring. You can quickly identify candidates who meet or don't meet certain criteria and proceed with the relevant bulk action for them, such as disqualifying or contacting them. Note that:
- All custom field types are supported for filtering.
- Filters can be inclusive or exclusive.
- Users can only search and filter candidates by custom fields based on their job collaboration rights and custom field visibility.
- The filter by application form questions and candidate responses is merged with the custom fields filter and is only available on the pipeline view, as job context is required.

Filter options by field / question type
Depending on the type of custom field or application question you select, you'll be presented with the proper filter options. Filters can be inclusive or exclusive.
| Field / question type | Filter options |
|---|---|
| Paragraph or Short text |
Contains, Does not contain, Is empty; you can also filter with multiple words with OR logic as shown below: |
| Boolean (Yes/No) | Yes, No, Is empty |
| Numeric | Greater than, Lower than, Within a range, Is empty |
| Date | Before a date, After a date, Within a date range, Is empty |
| File | File uploaded, Is empty |
| Multiple Choice or dropdown | Contains Option(s), Is empty; multiple selection operates with OR logic |
- For the paragraph or short text field / question type, the text you enter should match exactly that of the custom field / question for the filtering to work properly.
- For the numeric field / question type, the greater than or lower than filter also includes equal, so the number you enter will be included as well.
The selected filter and its values will appear in the side panel, and the candidate list will be updated instantly, filtering among candidates. You can remove the filters by clicking the X icon, and you can also edit them by clicking on the relevant pill.
You can combine multiple filters and/or different types following an AND logic. For example, with the below filtering, candidates will appear in the results if all of the following are true:
- They have Java or Python technical skills (multiple selections operate with OR logic)
- They are allowed to work in the US
- They have 5+ years of experience
