Multi-location postings enable you to streamline your recruiting activities by publishing a single job with one pipeline in multiple locations. With multi-location posting, you can:
- Add up to 4 additional office or employee locations on a job
- Advertise the job to all selected locations on Linkedin (free) and Google for jobs
- List the (single) job with all visible locations on your careers page and Referrals portal
- Filter candidates on the Pipeline view by candidate location
Creating postings with multiple locations
In the job editor, you will see a 'Workplace and Locations' section where you can identify:
- Your workplace type (on-site, hybrid, remote).
- The primary location which is used to drive all sourcing aspects of the job, i.e., everything on the Find Candidates page.
- Up to 4 additional locations which are used exclusively by LinkedIn (free) and Google job listings to advertise the jobs in separate job listings.
The job description is the same for all locations.
On-site & Hybrid workplaces
- The Office location is mandatory and is considered the primary location.
- Add up to 4 additional office locations; a city is required.
- The eye button enables you to select which locations will appear on your Careers page, Referrals portal, or job widget. Note that a minimum of one visible (or shown) location is mandatory for these workplaces.
Remote workplace
- The Employee location is mandatory and is considered the primary location.
- Add up to 4 additional employee locations; a country is required.
- The eye button enables you to select which locations will appear on your Careers page, Referrals portal, or job widget. Note that you can hide all locations if you wish to.
Important: If EEO is enabled, you cannot combine US and non-US locations within the same job.
Onsite & Hybrid workplaces

- The 'Show location on careers page' toggle allows you to select which locations will appear on your Careers page, Referrals portal, or job widget. Note that a minimum of one visible (or shown) location is mandatory for these workplaces.

- Careers page
-
Workable hosted careers page
A job with multiple locations is shown in your Workable hosted careers page as a single job listing, with all “Shown” locations presented in a list. Hovering over a truncated location will provide the full location. The location filter will operate for all locations.
Candidates can apply as usual, and all applications will land in the same job pipeline in Workable.
Careers page via the job widget
The job widget supports multiple locations, and individual job listings will be created for each job location.
- Find Candidates/ Job boards
-
Everything under the Find Candidates page applies only to the primary location, which will also be visible at the top of the page. In this example, the primary location is New York, US.
If you enable the 'Advertise in different location' checkbox (under Free job boards > Targeting options), the location you add there will overwrite the primary location.
For each additional location, an equivalent job listing will be created and advertised to the relevant audience only on LinkedIn (free) and Google (LinkedIn premium postings are only available for the primary location).
Candidates can apply as usual, and all applications will land in the same job pipeline in Workable. LinkedIn Easy Apply is also available if this is enabled for your account.
- Candidate profile/Pipeline view
-
While viewing candidates in the pipeline view, you can filter the candidate list by location. The location filter will use the candidates' actual location from resume data, geolocation data or phone number rather than their location preference.
The filter will enable you to search for candidates who are located in one or more cities/states/countries or who are not (via the 'Hide candidates in selected locations' box).
FAQs
- Why don't you support multiple locations on other job boards?
- While LinkedIn and Google inherently support multiple locations, implementing this functionality for other job boards requires additional development efforts on our end and will be made available soon.
- Can I update job locations after the job is published?
- Yes, you can edit the job anytime and add or remove additional locations. Note that it can take up to 24 hours for the changes to be reflected on LinkedIn (free) and Google.
- Does API support multiple locations?
- Yes, the GET /jobs and GET /jobs:shortcode endpoints will also return a locations array listing all locations. The first location on the array would always be the primary location and will match the location/* data (unless Advertised elsewhere is used).
- How is the candidate's location determined?
- A candidate's location is determined by multiple location sources: Resume, Application form, Social profiles, and IP. Hover over the location in the profile header to see the source of the location, and if you find it inaccurate, make edits to it.
- Can applicants indicate their preferred location when applying for jobs?
- Candidates applying to a job with multiple locations cannot natively declare their job location of preference or apply for a specific location. This feature will be provided in a future release. To capture candidates' location preferences, you can add custom questions on your application forms.
- What will happen if I sponsor a job with multiple locations on LinkedIn?
- In this situation, only the job ad with the primary location will be promoted, and the free ads for secondary locations will be hidden (removed from LinkedIn).
