Disqualify candidates
Candidates are disqualified from consideration when you click the red hand button on their profile.
When candidates are disqualified, they move to the Disqualified tab for that stage. Candidates won't know that they have been disqualified unless you either email/call them or have a disqualification automated action enabled. Note that disqualifying a candidate for one job does not affect their candidacies for other jobs in your account.
Tip: You can auto-disqualify candidates based on specific criteria using Yes/No application form questions.
Disqualify in bulk
To disqualify candidates in bulk:
- Select all candidates or the checkboxes next to individual's names
- Click in the bulk action toolbar that will appear at the bottom of the candidates' list
- If disqualification reasons are enabled for your account, you will need or have the option to provide your reason for all the selected candidates. Note that if disqualifications are optional, you will be presented with the selection dialogue but will be able to disqualify without selecting a reason.
If you have a lot of disqualified candidates, try emailing them in bulk to let them know that they won't be proceeding. Better yet, with our automated actions function, you can set up an email triggered some days after a candidate is disqualified.
Disqualification reasons
Disqualification reasons are independently manageable by Admin users through Settings > Workflow.
- If disqualification reasons are enabled and mandatory, once team members click the red hand icon to disqualify a candidate, they will be required to select a reason from the list for the rejection or write their own custom rejection reason. If they don't select a reason, they won't be able to proceed with the disqualification action.
- If disqualification reasons are enabled and optional, team members will have to click on the arrow next to the red hand icon to select a rejection reason for candidates they wish to provide a reason. Alternatively, they can click on the hand icon and disqualify without providing a reason.
If you need to track a reason that is not covered by the default rejection reasons, click Write another reason at the bottom of the window to enter your custom reason and select the type of rejection reason.
Disqualification reasons will be displayed while you hover over the disqualified label in the profile header or in the disqualification action item within the candidate timeline.
From the menu, you can edit the reason and/or note, revert, or block the candidate.
Revert disqualified candidates
Disqualified candidates can be reverted to Qualified at any time. To do that, click the green button to revert them.
Revert in bulk
To revert disqualified candidates in bulk:
- Select all candidates or the checkboxes next to individual's names; make sure you are selecting candidates under the Disqualified tab
- Click in the bulk action toolbar that will appear at the bottom of the candidates' list
