The Workable Agent runs your hiring funnel automatically: it sources passive candidates, screens everyone who applies, scores each person against your Ideal Candidate Profile (ICP) with written reasoning, and engages candidates to fill in gaps — handing you an interview-ready shortlist. You stay in control and make every hiring decision.
Every new account comes with 1,000 free Agent credits. This guide walks you through setting up your first agentic job and getting the most out of them.
How credits work
One credit covers one candidate processed — sourced, screened against your ICP, or engaged by the Agent. Here is what to know before you start:
- Candidates who fail a knockout question, or who you have blocked, cost no credits
- Your 1,000 free credits are valid for one year from activation
- Credits cover sourcing, screening, and outreach — one credit per screened candidate, regardless of how many actions the Agent takes for that person
Set up your first agentic job
Agent features only work on jobs created with the Agent. Follow these steps to set up your first one:
- Select Create job from the homepage or the Jobs page and choose the Agent-powered creation flow.
- Follow the guided conversation to describe your hiring needs. The Agent uses this to draft your job description and build your ICP.
- Review and refine the Ideal Candidate Profile (ICP). This is the most important step — the Agent scores every candidate against it. Cover must-haves, nice-to-haves, and dealbreakers across areas like experience, tools, certifications, and languages. You can edit existing criteria later, but you cannot add new ones after the job goes live, so take your time here.
- Review the job description and screening questions the Agent drafts for you. Edit anything that does not fit your role.
- Add knockout questions in your application form for your non-negotiable requirements (work authorization, location, and so on). Candidates who fail these are auto-disqualified and use no credits.
- Publish the job.
Note: Already have a live job? You can upgrade it to an agentic job and the Agent can process the candidates already in its pipeline.
Agent actions
You can turn sourcing, outreach, screening, auto-advance, and auto-disqualify on or off — at the account level, the job level, or for a single candidate. The Agent steps back the moment you step in, and every decision is yours to override.
For your first run, leave auto-disqualify off (it is off by default). That way you can review the Agent's calls before letting it act on them.
Make every credit count
A few habits will help you get the most out of your free credits:
- Use knockout questions. Filter out clear no-fits for free before the Agent spends a credit.
- Be selective about which jobs you activate. Start with your highest-volume or hardest-to-fill roles.
- Pause jobs that go on hold. Candidates created while the Agent is paused are not processed and use no credits.
To learn more about managing credit use, see Controlling how many credits the Agent uses.
Compliance and transparency
- Candidates always know they are talking to an AI — this is built into every email and chat and cannot be removed
- The Agent evaluates people on the professional qualifications in their profiles and excludes protected characteristics by design
- Every score and action is logged and auditable. The platform meets ISO 27001, ISO 27017, and SOC 2 Type II standards
See your results
Open any candidate to see their score out of 100 and the reasoning for every ICP criterion (met, partially met, not met, or unknown). To see a broader view of Agent activity:
- Use the Candidate sources report to see candidates the Agent sourced and who moved forward
- Filter the Activity log report by the Agent — just as you would filter by a teammate — to see every action it has taken
When your free credits run low
You will receive an alert as you approach your limit. To keep going, purchase a credit bundle — bundles start at 1,000 credits and each bundle is valid for one year from purchase. Contact your account manager if you are unsure how many you need.
