Enable anonymized screening to reduce bias when first reviewing a candidate's resume. This will obscure key details in a candidate's profile and resume in the Sourced and Applied stages for jobs where anonymized screening is enabled.
In order to preserve anonymity, you will not be able to contact candidates - manually or via automated actions (unless specified as no-reply) - until they are disqualified or moved to a new stage. When a candidate is disqualified or moved out of the Sourced/Applied stages, the above information will become visible, and options to contact them will become available.
Enabling anonymized screening
Account setting
To turn on anonymized screening for your account:
- Go to Settings, then Workflow
- Turn on the switch under the anonymized screening section
- Click Save Changes
Job setting
The option to anonymize the Sourced/Applied stages of specific jobs will now be available in the job editor:
- Edit a job by clicking on the three dots to the right of the job on the Jobs page
- Go to the Workflow tab in the editor
- Enable the switch for anonymizing candidates
- In the pop-up window, select 'Make Anonymous' to confirm
This switch must be enabled for jobs individually. You can enable and disable it for draft jobs prior to publishing or at any time while the job is active.
What is anonymized
The following information will be obscured for candidates in the Sourced and Applied stages for jobs where anonymized screening is enabled:
- First and last name
- Candidate photo
- Social profiles
- Address
- Phone number
- LinkedIn recruiter section redirecting to the candidate profile in LinkedIn (in case you have a LinkedIn recruiter license)
🔎 If Workable does not properly obscure identifiable information from the list above, contact us for further investigation.
FAQs
- Is the source domain anonymized?
- No, the source from which the candidate has applied will be visible.
- Does anonymized screening work for the mobile app?
- Yes!
- Is the cover letter anonymized when candidates sign with their names?
- Currently, this is not supported.
- Do automated actions work for anonymized candidates?
- Automated actions will work only for emails set as ‘no-reply’. When the automated email is sent to an anonymized candidate, its body will be obfuscated on the timeline and activity stream. Automations that are not set up as 'no-reply' will fail with a warning to update it so that it's set up as a no-reply.
