Workable’s Video Interviews allow candidates to easily record and submit their responses to the hiring team’s questions. Interviews can be completed on a computer, tablet, or mobile phone, with no software or app download required.
You can preview the candidate experience for any Video Interview you create. To do this:
Go to the job and select the ‘Workflow’ tab
Create or edit a Video Interview stage
Click ‘Preview.’
You’ll be directed to the candidate landing page, where you can go through the full interview experience. Any recordings made during the preview will not be saved or shared with the hiring team.
Preparing for the video interview
When a candidate is invited to a video interview, they receive an email that includes a link to a dedicated landing page. You can fully customize this email to match your communication style.
The landing page includes information about your organization, the job, and the interview process. Its content is based on the settings you selected when setting up the video interview in Workable. Candidates will see your ‘Introduction’ message, along with key details such as the estimated duration of the interview. Your company logo and branding are automatically applied, and you also have the option to include a welcome video when setting up the interview.
Video interviews can be started and paused as necessary and even completed on different days, as long as the final answers are submitted before the deadline communicated by the hiring team. Candidates will see the deadline on the landing page and will automatically be notified one day before expiration (and at expiration) if they have not submitted their response.
Candidates have the option to practice before recording their answers.
Whether practicing or starting recording directly, a quick network test takes place to ensure that the candidate has a reliable internet connection available. Their camera and microphone are also tested to ensure that the candidate is prepared to record their responses.
Troubleshooting resources are surfaced to candidates in case they have any difficulty. This includes extra tips on how they can prepare for a video interview.
After the test, the candidate will be able to click on Start interview to proceed.
Recording and submitting answers
When the candidate starts recording, they’ll see the question they should respond to.
If ‘think time’ has been set, the recording will start automatically once that time expires. Otherwise, the candidate can choose when to start recording.
If you gave candidates the option to record multiple takes for a question, they would be able to review their takes and choose their best one to submit their finalized interview.
Once all responses have been recorded, the candidate submits the video interview. A confirmation message will appear on the screen, and the candidates can safely close their browser.
Downloading the video interview recordings
After submitting their video interview, candidates can send the recordings to their email and even download them for safekeeping. They can do that either the moment they submit their video interview or at a later point by visiting the video interview link.
From the email sent, they will be able to download their responses if needed.
