Saving candidates enables you to easily bookmark candidates who may not be the perfect fit for your current role but have the potential for future openings. This ensures you have a ready list of high-potential candidates when new opportunities arise.
Saving candidates is available for all candidates in active and archived jobs, for all stages, and for both qualified and disqualified candidates. The action is available for all members except External Recruiters and Reviewers.
Saving a candidate
To save a candidate:
- Click the 'More actions' menu in the candidate toolbar.
- Select Save candidate.
- You will see a “Saved” status visible in the profile header.
Accessing/filtering saved candidates
Manually resurface saved candidates when a new opportunity arises via a filter available in both the Pipeline view and the Candidates Page.
Pipeline view
- Access a specific pipeline stage or click the "All" stage to view all candidates for this job.
- In the candidate list on the left side of the screen, click on the 'Sort & filter' button.
- In the action drawer that will open on the right side, enable the option to see Saved only candidates.
Candidates page
- Click the Candidates tab in the top menu.
- Enable the option to see Saved only candidates (the filter may be under 'More filters' depending on your screen size).

- Jobs or departments to find saved candidates relevant to a job family
- Stages to find saved candidates that reached a later phase of your screening process
- Searching saved candidates for specific skills
- Filtering for proximity to a location and more
Actions impact on saved candidates
Check below the effects of specific actions on saved candidates.

Copy/Move |
Saved candidates can be copied or moved within the account and they will preserve their saved status. If saved candidates are copied across accounts the saved status is not preserved in the target account. |
Disqualify/ Revert | Saved candidates can be disqualified or reverted and they will preserve their saved status. |
Move to another stage | Saved candidates can be moved to other stages and they will preserve their saved status. If the target stage is "Hired" though, they will be automatically unsaved. |
Delete | A saved candidate may be deleted and this will not affect their profile siblings, which will remain saved. |
Email editing | Saving is possible for profiles without email. Adding an email later will preserve the saved status unless the email already exists in the account. If the email already exists, then the status of that applicant will be inherited after the email change. |
Unsaving a candidate
For saved candidates, you will be able to reverse the status by following the steps below:
- Click the 'More actions' menu in the candidate toolbar.
- Select Unsave candidate.

- What will happen if a candidate has multiple profiles in Workable?

The save action affects the applicant level, meaning all candidate profile siblings within an account. When one candidate profile is saved, all its siblings (using the same email address) within the account are also marked as saved automatically. If the candidate is uploaded or applies in the future, those profiles will be marked as saved automatically as well.
