Each requisition created with Workable's Hiring Plan must be approved before it can be opened, and there is no way to bypass this process. Selected users or groups of users will review requisition details like title, start date, and salary filled and finally approve/reject the requested requisition.
Approvals for requisitions are sequential, meaning the approval request will first be sent to members of the 1st approval group. When someone from the 1st group approves, it will then be sent to the members of the 2nd approval group, and so on.

Approval requests in the hiring plan dashboard
Requisition requests that are currently pending your approval will be visible within the Hiring Plan dashboard.
- Open the Hiring Plan Dashboard
- Navigate to the Need approval tab
- Either click approve ✔️ or decline ❌ next to the requisition request(s)
Approval requests in Workable inbox
Workable users required to approve a requisition request receive an inbox notification once their approval is needed according to the approvals sequence.
The recipient of the inbox notification can directly approve or reject the request by selecting one of the actions on the top right. Once they complete their actions, the inbox item is archived.
For each inbox item created, an email is also sent to the user to notify them that a requisition requires their approval. Users can open the inbox item directly from the email:
After the approval process is complete, the req stakeholders are notified, and the Requisition Owner or a Super Admin can officially open the requisition.
If you reject the request, you can leave a note with the reason for the rejection.
Req stakeholders are notified immediately when a requisition is rejected. The requester can update and resubmit the requisition, which will begin the approval workflow again.
