If your application form changes are missing or applicants’ answers look unexpected, the issue may be related to how you updated the job or how the applicant completed the form. Use the steps below to troubleshoot.
Missing application form questions
This can happen with jobs posted to LinkedIn and other job boards. Updating the application form without also updating the job description may not send LinkedIn a new version of the job. You can quickly check the live application form on a job board (that uses Easy Apply as an application method) by finding your job and submitting a test application.
If the application form is outdated, you can follow the actions below to send the updated application form to the board:
- Make a small change to the job description and select Update. This will send a new version of the job to job boards, along with the updated application form.
- You can also unpublish and republish the job.
Blank or unexpected answers
Answers such as “N/A,” a dash, or unrelated text may indicate that an applicant used an AI-assisted tool to complete the application. Review the answers in context and follow your organization’s usual screening process.
Old or irrelevant resume / cover letter
Applicants may use resumes or cover letters that refer to other companies. LinkedIn lets applicants save application information and documents for reuse, so they may attach a previously saved cover letter to a later application. Applicants can review or manage their saved documents and application information in LinkedIn settings. For more information, see Why is my old resume/cover letter being added to applications?
