A conversion tracking pixel is a tool used to better understand advertising performance behaviors. For example, a tracking pixel can automatically collect information about visitor behavior to help you measure more about the effectiveness of your job advertising (like cost per application).
In Workable’s case, when a candidate successfully applies (or “converts”), a pixel can be used to track the success of your job advertising campaigns.
Tracking pixels are not provided by Workable. They are offered through third-party platforms like Joveo, Indeed, and Facebook. A tracking pixel can be added to your Workable careers page to collect additional data.
Note: Currently, Workable only supports conversion tracking, which means that the pixel tracks information only after a candidate has applied to a role. Pixels that track other pages or steps in the candidate experience (like a pixel used for tracking job posting views) are not supported.
How to use a tracking pixel:
- Get a link to your conversion tracking pixel from the service through which you’re collecting advanced reporting.
- In Workable, navigate to the Careers Page section.
- Paste the link into the relevant field and save the changes.
The conversion pixel will be triggered on the application confirmation page after a candidate submits their application.
When adding a tracking pixel to Workable, include only the URL of the tracking pixel. For example, a link to a tracking pixel might look like this: https://www.facebook.com/tr?id=xxxxxx&ev=PageView&noscript=1
Make sure that "https:" is included in the link after pasting. Some tracking providers may generate the link without it, e.g., "//conv.indeed.com/pagead/conv/xxxxxx/?script=0".
Do not include additional code or extra information.
FAQs
- How can I test if the pixel is added successfully to the careers page?
You could submit a test application and then, on the success page, search for the pixel under the Browser inspector. If the pixel is there, everything should work as expected.
