Before the review cycle kicks off, as a manager, you may be requested to tailor the performance reviews for your team members or select the peers who will provide them with a peer review. If your organization allows this, you will receive a notification and to-do item to edit the review forms for each direct report and mark them as ready. This way, you can include questions and sections specific to each person's role and responsibilities.
During the preparation period, when viewing a scheduled cycle, you can edit sections/questions for Self, Manager, Upward, and Peer reviews.
Customize performance reviews
To get started with the preparation process for your direct report reviews:
- Navigate to your Employees tab.
- Go to the Performance tab.
- Select View cycle for the scheduled review cycle.
While viewing the scheduled review cycle under the Tasks tab:
- Click Edit forms next to each of your direct reports.
- Read the questions included in each of your direct reports’ reviews.

Edit forms for your direct reports
If you wish to customize the questions you'll be required to answer in your manager review for each of your direct reports:
- Click Edit on the upper right of the form page.
- Add any additional sections or questions to the existing self and/or manager review form. Note that you won't be able to remove template sections or questions; they will show up as locked with an associated icon.
- You can save your changes and return to them later, or save and mark them as ready.
During the preparation period, you can open each direct report’s review to add custom sections or insert new questions into existing ones. All available question types can be used. When you are done, you should click the ‘Mark as ready’ button.
Mark forms as ready
Once your review forms are in good shape, you can mark them as ready from the form page or the tasks list actions.
Important: Make sure to mark all your direct reports' forms as ready before the review start date to allow them to begin. Reviews not marked as ready cannot start.
Add peers for your direct reports
If your company uses peer reviews for performance reviews, you will be requested to choose the peers who will write reviews for each of your direct reports during the preparation phase. Only managers have the authority to select peers for their direct reports.
- Click Add Peer for each direct report.
- Select peers from a list (respecting any HR-defined limit).
