HR Admins can set up approval flows for time-off types and policies when creating or editing a time-off type or policy. Approvers can be specific employees or roles.
- HR Admin: When this role is selected as an approver, then all HR admins and Super Admins can approve/reject a time-off request. The first one to process the request will be the one defining the approval outcome.
- Line manager: When this role is selected as an approver, only the immediate line manager can approve/reject a time-off request and not the whole management line.
Approvals for time-off types
When creating or editing a time-off type:
- Enable the Require approval toggle
- Select people to approve time-off requests for this type. Approvers can be specific employees or roles.
- Click Add approver to add more approvers to the flow. Approval requests will be sent in numerical order.
Note: This approval flow will be used by default for all policies under the specific type but you can customize approvals in individual policies. See next section.
Approvals for time-off policies
By default, a time-off policy follows the approval flow assigned to the time-off type it belongs to. HR admins can define custom approval flows for specific policies, overriding the default approval flow that the time-off type is using. To define a custom approval flow follow the below steps when creating or editing an individual time-off policy:
- Under Additional settings > Approvals select the Custom option
- Enable the Require approval toggle
- Select people to approve time-off requests for this type. Approvers can be specific employees or roles.
- Click Add approver to add more approvers to the flow. Approval requests will be sent in numerical order
Note: This approval flow will be used only for this individual policy.
