In the job editor, you have the option to select your company's industry, a job function, and an experience level for the position. Your selection will impact the visibility of your post through search and filtering options on job boards, as well as job board recommendations within Workable.
Leaving these options blank will reduce the visibility of your post on some job boards, so it's recommended that you select something for every job you publish.
Note: The options in these fields come directly from our partner job boards and cannot be customized. This is because they map directly to the categories job boards use to index and surface postings to the right candidates, so a custom value wouldn't correspond to anything meaningful on the job board side.
- For the industry: choose the option that most closely matches what your company does.
- For the job function: choose the option that matches the job you're currently creating.
- For the experience level: choose the option (Internship, Entry Level, Associate, Mid-Senior Level, Director, or Executive) that most closely matches the seniority of the role.
If a specific nuance isn't captured well by the existing experience level options, we recommend including it in the job title and description instead. For example, you can distinguish a "Senior Manager" role from a "Principal" role this way, even though both may map to the same Mid-Senior Level category.
Workable will recommend job boards based on your choices. For example, if the job has an IT function, then sites like Dice are more likely to be recommended. Conversely, if the job is in marketing, other boards would be recommended.
