Workable's personality assessment uses the Big Five or Five Factor model of personality. The big five personality model was statistically derived from summarizing the adjectives we use to describe people in five dimensions. This was repeated in many languages and cultures around the world. Today the Five Factor model is the de facto standard model of personality. It has been shown to predict job performance in occupational settings.
The main 5 factors are:
- Openness To Experience
- Emotional Stability
Workable’s version of the Five Factor model further analyzes 16 additional facets, which were selected and sometimes modified for their relevance in employee selection settings. These facets have been analyzed for internal consistency. Many of the questions themselves are taken from the public domain International Personality Item Pool (IPIP) maintained by Prof. Lew Goldberg of the Oregon Research Institute. Questionnaires from the IPIP have been used in over 850 published studies.
